Strategy of the School


The School of Civil Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens is the oldest school of civil engineering in Greece and has played a leading role in the scientific, technical and economic development of the country. Since the 19th century, the graduates of the School have been a solid reference in Greek society and bedrock of the construction and operation of the country’s infrastructure. The School is internationally renowned and in the last decade it has achieved the best international performance in its history. It is the most internationally acknowledged school in the country and is systematically evaluated in the top positions in world ranking lists by subject.

    Fully aware of its historical role in Greece and its international distinctions, the School of Civil Engineering educates the new generation of Civil Engineers in the country and internationally to create a world with reliable and high-quality infrastructure and services that meet the demanding and changing societal needs. In this context, the School aims to promote a modern approach to the profession of Civil Engineering, in line with the principles of circular economy, sustainable development, resilience and climate adaptation. As a pioneering school in the country, the School of Civil Engineering will continue to shape its modern educational role, maintaining its commitment to the production of new knowledge, fostering the development of high-level scientific and technological research and innovation, and contributing to the modernization of existing and the development of new infrastructure and services in the country and abroad.
