The *Metal Structures Laboratory* of the Civil Engineering Department at the National Technical University of Athens was founded in 1965.
Since 2003 it is housed in its own building at Zografou Campus, covering a total area of 2.120 m², of which 640 m² are testing space, while 650 m² are offices of the staff and auxiliary facilities. The building also hosts a small auditorium of 61 seats, covering 95 m², as well as a PC Lab of 100 m². The storage rooms, anchoring area and other auxiliary rooms take the remaining 375 m².

The Metal Structures Laboratory is active in education, research, and scientific as well as experimental support of technological development in the following fields:

• Steel-reinforced concrete composite construction

• Special purpose steel structures

• Towers

• Cable structures
